A holy hush settled over everyone from those 140 nations for several moments before the final “Amen.”

Still, we didn’t understand the impact of what we had just experienced. Finally, we all agreed that we had to do that again. Pentecost, the Feast of Weeks, was only fifty days away. We agreed to meet again for that sacred time.

THE FAMILY THAT PRAYS TOGETHER

By then our new relationships had begun to grow into full-blown Godly love affairs with each other. Arabs spoke and sang Hebrew. Jews spoke and sang in Arabic. Wisdom, worship, revelation, and love flowed through the computer terminals. We came to realize this was the real reason the internet must have been created in the first place. We were joined by pastors and ministers who are known worldwide but who had never worshiped together. Some men who had openly criticized or opposed each other in the past looked each other in the eyes and repented as the entire world looked on. Arabs and Jews confessed their bitterness and even hatred for one another while Chinese Christians prayed for us all.

On Pentecost, we discovered more than six hundred thousand connections were happening via the internet around the globe. Some families and entire congregations joined by satellite. We still don’t know exactly how many people met to worship and pray across the world, but it was all a miracle. We knew Heaven had made an appointment with us for the express purpose of uniting the Body of the Messiah to hear from the King.

It’s been said that the family that prays together stays together. As antiquated as that may sound, many studies prove it to be true.

What is the one quality of Jewish life that you would say is most universally admired? Without a doubt, it would have to be family. Does that happen by accident, or could the Jewish lifestyle be inherently designed to promote and protect the family and home? Why is it that in Jewish neighborhoods we see so many shop signs that say, “Horowitz and Son” or “Goldman and Goldman”? I believe you can trace that remarkable bond of love and covenant to the families’ dedication to Shabbat meals and worship.

On our Zoom call, we all realized that at this table of covenant in the blood of Jesus, no one has reason to boast or to be ashamed. We were truly one body, one holy nation, one people of God, one family from every tribe and tongue. As the Pentecost feast came to a close, I had the opportunity to remind us all of the precious words God spoke in Hebrews 2:11 (NIV):

Both the one who makes men holy [Jesus],

And those who are made holy [all of us!] are of the same family.

So Jesus is not ashamed to call them

Brothers and sisters.
